Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein confirms spurious hadith in Bukhari…

“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” (Holy Qur’an 33:35)

May Allah bless Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein or his candid honesty!

More about who he is from his own web site here:

Shiekh Imran Nazar Hosein in a very candid lecture said about the scholars of our time:

“I think its time this subject is taught properly. I think its time for the scholars of Islam to stop what they have been doing!”- Sheikh Imran Hosein continues, “Abrogation does not refer to the Qur’an” and ‘there is no stoning to death for adultery in the Qur’an”  Mash’Allah!  May Allah (swt) reward him for this.

The respected Sheikh Imran Hosein (May Allah bless him for this) says that the following two ahadith in Bukhari are not reliable.

‘Umar said, “I am afraid that after a long time has passed, people may say, “We do not find the Verses of the Rajam (stoning to death) in the Holy Book,” and consequently they may go astray by leaving an obligation that Allah has revealed. Lo! I confirm that the penalty of Rajam be inflicted on him who commits illegal sexual intercourse, if he is already married and the crime is proved by witnesses or pregnancy or confession.” Sufyan added, “I have memorized this narration in this way.” ‘Umar added, “Surely Allah’s Apostle carried out the penalty of Rajam, and so did we after him.” (Bukhari, vol. 8, bk. 82, no. 816)

and the following:

Narrated Abu Huraira – Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend among you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no Jizya . Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it.” (Sahih al-Bukhari Number 4.657)
Narrated Abu Huraira – Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend among you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya . Then there will be abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts. (Sahih al-Bukhari Number 3.425)

May Allah (swt) bless Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein for this.  I believe more and more Scholars, Sheikhs and Imams who research into the matter will find more problematic issues with in the hadith corpus either related to the sanad itself (by re-examining  books of rijal) or from the ‘matn’ -the text.

  1. Is the concept of abrogation then false or does it apply only for Ahaadiith?

  2. mmmclmru

Hanafis like us also deny stoning, especially the Usooli and not ‘hadithy’ ones we have today, like Deobandis and Brelwis: Quran being abrogated by ahad is not acceptable for Hanafis and Malikis anyway.

Another excellent post – your reward will be with Allah for having the courage to clear this up.

    • Bismillah,

mmclmru I was not aware that Hanafi usoolis were not in favor of stoning as the ‘punishment for adultery’. It is interesting though that allot of those who are outspoken against the concept of stoning for adultery tend to be from those I would assume are from a Hanafi back ground.

      Thank you for your comment.

May Allah (swt) reward us all. May Allah (swt) guide us to an ever straighter road than this.
