Muhammed written about in the Bible.

Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the unlettered, whom they find mentioned in their own ( Scriptures),-in the Law and the Gospel.” (Qur’an 7:157)

What is the methodology used to show that the Blessed Prophet Muhammed is written about in the Bible?

In order for our Christian brothers and sisters to be consistent, we would like to bring their attention to the following text:

He said to them, “ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms must be fulfilled.(Luke 24:44)

Note: Jesus talks about events written about him in the law of Moses; however when we look at the Torah we do not find the name of Jesus anywhere.

There can only be one of two conclusions from this.

  1. Jesus was not telling the truth.
  2. When Jesus says, ‘written about him‘ he is speaking about metonymy.

We conclude that point 2 is the correct understanding. Though Jesus is not mentioned by name at all in the Law of Moses Christians would point out that the scriptures speak of him nonetheless.

In both the Qur’an and the ‘Gospel according to Luke’ a literary device known as metonymy is used.

What is metonymy?

“Metonymy has traditionally been defined as merely a figure of speech where the name of one entity is substituted for that of another entity
that is contiguous to it (Peters, 2003; Wendland, 2003). Thus, according to the traditional rhetorical view, metonymy is only referential, and it involves
substitution provided that the substituted entities are contiguous. Thus, according to cognitive linguists, metonymy is not merely a figure of speech; it is also a way of thinking and conceptualizing. Therefore, any definition of metonymy should not talk about words or names of things; rather, it should be about concepts or entities.” (
Source: Translation of Metonymy in the Holy Qur’an: A Comparative, Analytical Study) -Reem Salem Al-Salem

This methodology used by the Christians should be kept in mind as we continue our discussion on “Muhammed as written about in the Bible

God’s promise to Abraham.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him A GREAT NATION.” (Genesis 17:20)

O People of the Book why dispute about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Have you no understanding? You are those who fell into disputing in matters of which you had some knowledge! But why dispute you in matters you have no knowledge! It is Allah who knows, and you know not! Abraham was not a Jew nor a Christian, but he was true in Faith, and he was also not one of the polytheists.” (Qur’an 3:65-67)

Note: The point above is that Abraham was not a follower of Judaism. Abraham was also not a follower of Christ.

The Qur’an makes the truthful and valid claim that Abraham could not be an adherent of either religion when the Torah and the Gospel were revealed after him. It’s a very logical assertion. So the claim of Islam is that Abraham was something primordial to Judaism or Christianity.

The claim of Islam is that Abraham was a Muslim.

Before we establish Biblical proof that Abraham was a Muslim I think it’s important we define two terms: Muslim and Islam.

Islam means– peace safety submission surrender and a return to wholeness by submitting one’s will to God.

Muslim means– one who obtains peace safety submission surrender and one who became whole by submitting one’s will to God.

Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son.

This proves that Abraham was a Muslim. If one tries to argue that it is impossible for Abraham to be a Muslim on the basis that Muhammed (saw) came after him I agree. However, it’s impossible for one to argue against the fact that he was a Muslim according to the Arabic definition of the term.

Unless the adherents of Judaism and Christianity deny that Abraham submitted his will to God’s will there is no getting around the fact that in principle Abraham was a Muslim.

Muslims contend that every nation (tribe) on earth was sent a God-given messenger. We also believe that the message was one and the same; that they taught peace by submission to God’s will. That phrase translated into Arabic is Islam!

Muslims believe that all the prophets taught the same oneness of God, and we contend that they never came to establish division among people. Therefore we believe that they never came to establish a faith called Judaism or Christianity for that matter.

In fact, is there anywhere in the Bible where any of the prophets claimed to have preached a religion called Judaism or Christianity???

Christians contend that salvation is with the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Judaism establishes that salvation is in keeping with the laws of Moses. However, we wish to know how did people come to heaven before these two methods of ‘salvation‘ were established?

This is the point that Allah drives home in the above-mentioned chapter. Muslims see in Judaism that God is wrapped up in the affairs of the people of Israel and we wonder about the plight of the Chinese, East Pacific Islanders, and the Native American peoples, etc. Were any prophets sent to these people?

Did they receive any divine guidance or did they burn in hell until the message of Judaism and Christianity reached them?

Allah says no!

And messengers We have mentioned to thee before and messengers We have not mentioned to thee. And to Moses Allah addressed His word, speaking (to him).” (Qur’an chapter 4:164)

Note: Even though a Muslim may not be able to name a Polynesian prophet, or Nordic prophet, the fact remains we believe in the principle that one was sent.

And for every nation, there is a messenger. So when their messenger comes, the matter is decided between them with justice, and they are not wronged.” (Qur’an 10:47)

So the method of salvation has always, from the outset, included all of mankind and has not limited itself to a particular people. Coming to the subject at hand according to the Bible that the Christians and Jews (with the Jews not accepting the New Testament as canonical) did God keep his promise as stated in Genesis 17:20?

Although some people say that God did indeed bless Ishmael by blessing the Arabs with oil or giving Ishmael’s descendants this or that material good, we have to reflect on what it means when God says he will make someone A GREAT NATION.

The Prophet Job comes to mind when I think of this cause what was the greatest gift God gave to Job was unwavering faith in him. It was not the double portion of things lost but the confidence of knowing that one can serve God even in the face of great adversity.

A GREAT NATION by God’s definition I would hope my Christian and Jewish brothers and sisters would not insist that God had a material benefit in mind!

IS ISHMAEL ILLEGITIMATE?

Sometimes our Jewish and Christian brethren will try and object by claiming Ishmael was illegitimate, although this is not the case.

And Sarah, Abram’s wife took Hagar, her maid, the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband to be his WIFE, (not concubine or mistress!) and he went unto Hagar, and she conceived; And she saw that she had conceived, Her mistress was despised in her eyes.” (Genesis 16:3-4)

THE COVENANT WITH ISAAC AND IT’S EXPIRATION DATE.

Some times our Christian friends may even tell us that God established his covenant with Isaac.

It is important to keep in mind two things regarding this. One is that Isaac was never the only son, and the second is that the contract or covenant had stipulations attached to it. Did you check the expiration date?

If these ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever. Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundation of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all they have done, saith the Lord(Jeremiah 31:36-37)

Matthew 21:42-45 we find,

“Jesus said unto them, did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore I say, The Kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to A NATION bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: But on whomsoever, it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And when the chief priest and Pharisees had heard this parable, The perceived that he spoke of them.”

Hajar Al Aswad-The Black Stone.

Hajar-Mother of Ishmael-Father of the Arabs.

I am reminded of an interesting quote from Frank Herbert’s Dune “Think on it, Chani: the princess will have the name, yet she’ll live as less than a concubine-never to know a moment’s tenderness from the man to whom she’s bound.  While we, Chani, we who carry the name of concubine-history will call us wives.”-Reverend Mother Jessica Atreides.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him A GREAT NATION.” (Genesis 17:20)

HOW WAS THE ABOVE PROMISE IN (GENESIS 17:20) KEPT?

Answer:

Certainly we have revealed to you a Book which will give you greatness. Do you not then understand?” (Qur’an 21:10)

Alhamdulillah (All praise be to God), the people of the Arabian Peninsula the descendants of Ishmael have received a holy revelation (The Qur’an) commanding them to believe in the one God of Abraham; and has instructed them to live in a righteous and peaceful manner!

So Muslims believe that God did establish a covenant with Isaac; however, we want to know about the messenger that received this revelation, and is it possible that there is text in the Bible itself that could relate to the advent of such a messenger or be interpreted itself as such?

A TEST FROM THE TORAH TO SEE IF MUHAMMAD IS A TRUE PROPHET.

In the book of Deuteronomy 13:1-5 the Jewish people are given criteria for knowing whether or not a Prophet is true.

There it states,

If there arise among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams and gives you a sign or wonder and the sign or wonder comes to pass and he spake unto thee saying let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them you shall not hearken unto the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams: For the Lord your God proves you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You Shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him, And keep his commandments and obey his voice and you shall serve him, And cleave unto him and that prophet, Or that dreamer of dreams, Shall be put to death; Because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God which brought you out of the house of bondage to trust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk. So shall you put the evil away from your midst?(Deuteronomy 13:1-5)

If the Blessed Prophet Muhammed was false he would have met the fate of false prophets and his work would have been brought to naught. Today one out of five people are Muslim.

By the year 2050 more than 50% of the world’s population will be born into the Islamic faith. So, according to this TEST in Deuteronomy 18:18 the Blessed Prophet Muhammed is true!

THE GREATEST PROPHECY IN THE TORAH.

Deuteronomy 18:18

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.”

Note: The above-mentioned prophet is not mentioned by name.

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.(Deuteronomy 18:18)

Christians say this prophecy refers to Jesus and it may very well be the case; however the Muslim, as well as the Jew, may very well ask is the name Jesus in the Hebrew text of Deuteronomy 18:18?

If we are honest the answer is no.

So I feel that if Christians can come up with various interpretations about this text being in reference to Jesus, then we Muslims can come up with various interpretations as outlined by the criteria given at the beginning of this presentation to refer to the Blessed Messenger, Muhammed. You, the reader, be the judge.

Reasons Why Deuteronomy 18:18 does not refer to Jesus.

#1. If Jesus is God his words would be his own not put in his mouth.

#2. Jesus would not be the literal son of God if he was a prophet like Moses.

#3. Jesus never claimed to be the prophet like unto Moses.

#4. He would have to be raised among the brethren(Ishmaelites).

The Brethren are not the Israelites but the Ishmaelites.

In Isaiah 66:20 we have,

And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of the nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters and upon mules and upon swift beast, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.”

Here the difference between children of Israel and Brethren is shown.

Also, in Leviticus 25:46 we have, “But over your BRETHREN the CHILDREN of ISRAEL, you shall not rule one over another with rigor.”

So in light of this, the Deuteronomy 18:18 passage would have said Children of Israel and not Brethren.

DEUTERONOMY 18:18 WAS NOT FULFILLED IN JESUS

Christians say that Jesus fulfilled all these prophecies in the ‘ Old Testament‘ yet the greatest prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:18 has YET TO BE FULFILLED according to Paul!

Acts 3:19

“Repent and be coveted that your sins may be blotted out. When the time of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began (he must stay until this prophecy is fulfilled) for Moses truly said unto the fathers, a prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me; Him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. (That prophet like unto Moses, Deuteronomy 18:18), And all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, and IN THY SEED SHALL ALL THE KINDRED OF THE EARTH BE BLESSED.”- in reference to (Genesis 21:13)

In fact, The New American Bible says the following in its footnote of Acts 3:22:

“A loose citation of DT 18:15 which teaches that the Israelites are to learn the will of Yahweh from no one but their prophets. At the time of Jesus, some Jews expected a unique prophet to come in fulfillment of this text. Early Christianity applied this tradition and text to Jesus and used them especially in defense of the divergence of Christian teaching from traditional Judaism.”

As we can see according to Paul Deuteronomy 18:18 still awaits fulfillment! A very important aspect of the prophecy awaits, ‘that all the kindred of the Earth will be blessed‘.  This is not going to happen if during Jesus ‘2nd coming‘ he is going to be judge, jury, and executioner.

In fact, it can in no way be a reference to Jesus because we know that Jesus was without a ‘Y’ chromosome. He certainly is not the ‘seed’ of David. Not only this but according to Christians when Jesus returns there will be condemnation and judgment. The way will the kindred of all the earth be blessed by the seed of Abraham is through his line from Ishamel to the Blessed Prophet Muhammed (saw) and the message of Islam.

Did Jesus claim to be that prophet like unto Moses?

Answer: No!

John 1:19-21, 25

And this is the record of John When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and denied not; But confessed:

1. I am not the Christ. And they asked him what them?

2. Are you Elias? And he said I am not.

3. Are you THAT PROPHET? And he answered, “No.”

THREE QUESTIONS!

And they asked him, And said unto him, Why baptize then if you be not the Christ, nor Elias, neither THAT PROPHET ?

EXAMINATION TIME!

We know that the Jews were waiting for three distinct persons.

1) They were looking for the Messiah( Christ)

2) They were looking for Elias

3) They were looking for THAT PROPHET (That prophet, notice, is not a personal name.)

We also know that…

1) The Christ(Messiah) became Jesus.

2) That Elias was later revealed to be John the Baptist.

3) However, we are still looking for THAT PROPHET.

Notice that the text says that the priest or kohen and the Levites-the doctors of the law were sent. These were learned people and the text tells us they clearly awaited for 3 people.

THE GREATEST PROPHECY OF JESUS: THE COMING OF AHMAD!

“And when Jesus, son of Mary, said: O’ children of Israel, surely I am the messenger of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Torah and giving the good news of a Messenger who will come after me, his name being AHMAD. But when he came to them with CLEAR ARGUMENTS, they said: This is clear enchantment.”(Qur’an 61:6)

Ahmad means ‘the praised one‘. Or ‘one worthy of praise‘.

Muhammed means ‘the praised one

Now we don’t find the name ‘Ahmad” being recorded in the New Testament that the Christians have today. However, what we do have is something that merits close scrutiny.

Jesus tells the coming of the comforter (Greek=Paraklete)

The first time PARACLETE is used

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not and if any man sin, we have an ADVOCATE (PARACLETE) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous) (1st John 2:1)

Note: The first time the word Paraclete is used is in reference to a man Jesus.

So there is no dispute that the term ‘paraclete‘ can be used in reference to a human being.

The second time PARACLETE is used

If you love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray for the Father, and he shall give you ANOTHER Comforter, that HE may abide with you forever.(John 14:15-16)

Another‘- the Greek word Allos means another of the same kind.

allon Parakleton-In addition to himself another messenger, not heteros, another of a different kind!

Comment: If Jesus meant a comforter of a different kind he would have used the Greek word heteron meaning-another of a different kind. The Greek word heteron is where we get the word heterosexual.

An example of the Greek word heteros being used.

I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ another gospel.” (Here the Greek word another (eteron) is another of a different kind.) (Galatians 1:6-9)

Reasons why the Paraclete( Comforter ) is not the Holy Ghost

Now what I have seen in Christian-Muslim dialogue on this point is that the Christians will quote the following text and feel there is no further point to discuss the matter.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26)

For the Christian, the phrase, ‘The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost‘ settles the matter. Fair enough for them. It is an explicit text. However, given early Christian controversy surrounding this issue I find it interesting that the text wants to quickly resolve the identity of the Comforter- ‘which is the Holy Ghost‘. It’s as if there could have been some ambiguity here.

So here are some reasons I am not quite as settled as the Christians are in regards to the identity of the ‘The Comforter‘.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, THE COMFORTER WILL NOT COME UNTO YOU; but if I depart, I will send HIM unto you.(John 16:7)

(So Jesus has to depart for this comforter to come so we know it is not the Holy Ghost!)

WHY WOULD WE SAY THAT?

Because Jesus was around the same time the Holy Ghost!

Three texts will make that perfectly clear.

#1 Luke 3:23

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him.” (Jesus didn’t have to go anywhere!)

#2 Luke 4:1

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” (Again Jesus and Holy Ghost are present together.)

#3 John 20:21-22

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, So I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Ghost.”

Jesus constantly refers to the Paraclete ( Comforter ) as HE and not IT.

I have many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth comes HE will guide you into all truth: (HOW?) For HE shall not speak of HIMSELF; But whatsoever HE shall hear (from God) that shall HE speak: and HE will show you things to come.” (John 16:12-13)

Jesus says HE, but in John 1:32

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and IT abode upon him.”

(Spirit in Greek is used in the neuter gender of IT not SHE or HE, but in John 16:12-13 Jesus clearly used the masculine gender!)

The Prophecy of Jesus refers to a concrete being with concrete Organs to hear and speak.

But whatsoever HE shall HEAR that shall HE SPEAK”:(John 16:13)

HEAR – The Greek verb ; (akouo) means to perceive sounds, to admit audible sounds.

SPEAK-The Greek verb ; (laleo) means to speak, to emit sounds. So this HE has to be able to hear audibly and tell verbally.

DO YOU HEAR SOUNDS FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT?

CAN THE HOLY GHOST SPEAK?

Likewise the Spirit also keeps our infirmities: For we know not what we should pray for as we ought: But the Spirit ITSELF makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.(Romans 8:26)

The two Greek words Akouo and Laleleo refer to a concrete being with speech organs.

The Qur’an is the word of God, and The Blessed Prophet Muhammed is the mouthpiece.

Remember the prophecy of Deut 18:18,

and I will put my words in his mouth

By the star when it goes down your companion is neither astray nor being misled, nor does he say of his own desire. It is no less than an inspiration sent down to him: He was taught by one mighty in power.” (Qur’an 53:1-5)

If God and the Holy Ghost are one and the same can God tell the Holy Ghost what to do?

Can the Holy Ghost tell God what to do?

HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN INTERPRETATIONS OF JOHN 14:15-16

Comment: Early Christian scholars understood the text of John 14:16. These Christians knew that Jesus was giving a prophecy of another prophet to come after him.

For those interested in GOOD HONEST CHRISTIANS who know ARAMAIC please go to the web site on the Internet for the word Ahmad in the Bible. For those interested, you would be well advised to see http://www.aramaic.org/PARAVLETE.html”>http://www.aramaic.org/PARAVLETE.html

By the way, someone had that site shut down.  But Praise be to Allah for the “WAY BACK MACHINE”   https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.aramaic.org/PARAVLETE.html

The site is informative and interesting. I highly recommend it!

In fact here is the conversation for you:

SOME EARLY CHURCH FATHERS SAW THE POSSIBILITY OF PARACLETE BEING A REFERENCE TO A HUMAN BEING.

The Montanists professed to be prophets and to speak under divine inspiration. Their founder, Montanus, claimed to be the Paraclete, the “Comforter,” or Helper, of John, chapter 14. Tertullian became a Montanist before he died.”

Source: (Edgar J Goodspeed How Came The Bible pg. 67.)

Comment: Tertullian and Monatanus were early church fathers who played a crucial role in the development of the New Testament text Christians have today. So if such learned men saw the possibility of the Paraclete referring to a human being then who are we to say?

Christian tradition has identified this figure (Paraclete) as the Holy Spirit, but scholars like Spitta, Delafosse, Sasse, Bultmann, and Betz have doubted whether this identification is true to the original picture and have suggested that the Paraclete was once an independent salvific figure, later confused with the Holy Spirit.”

Source: (The Anchor Bible, 1970, Volume 29A, p.1135)

Likewise, Paracletos means advocate, like Periclytos, which means the Praised, Ahmad or Muhammad. Notice the difference between Paracletos and Periclytos is in the vowels.

Even a Christian evangelical website admitted that Pericyltos means ‘the Praised’‘, though they go on to attempt to debunk our position.

Hey, we all make mistakes!

A TEST TO KNOW IF MUHAMMED (SAW) IS TRUE – *NOTE* THE TERMS SPIRIT AND PROPHET ARE USED INTERCHANGEABLY

Beloved believe not every SPIRIT, but try the SPIRITS whether they are of God: Because many false PROPHETS are gone out into the world. Hereby know you the SPIRIT of God: Every SPIRIT that confessed that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God:” (1 John 4:1-6)

This Epistle is aimed at correcting a false theology known as Docetism, a form of Gnostic heresy that denied Jesus Christ was a human being.

Christ, the son of Mary, was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a truthful woman. They had to eat their food. See how Allah does make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded from the truth!” (Qur’an 5:75)

So The Blessed Messenger (saw) is of God according to the above Biblical quotation because he was made to say that Jesus came in the flesh!

Prophecies of the “Old Testament” can equally apply to the Blessed Prophet Muhammed and the coming of Islam just as they can to Jesus.

The Christians claim there are thousands of prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures about Jesus. However the name Jesus is not in the text.

We Muslims do not deny these prophecies; however, couldn’t some of these equally apply to the Blessed Prophet Muhammed (saw) and Islam?

The prophet that prophesieth PEACE, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord hath truly sent him.” (Jeremiah 28:9)

(Here the term PEACE the Hebrew equivalent salvation, shalom, Arabic equivalent salaam; means to be restored to wholeness. Imagine being saved and not being whole or complete!)

Islam is the only faith that has claimed to be the natural religion of man. This is why we don’t say convert to Islam but revert.

So set your face steadily and truly to the faith: (establish) Allah’s handiwork according to the pattern on which he has made mankind: No change can there be in the work by Allah: That is the standard faith: But most among mankind understand not.” (Qur’an 30:30)

Prophecy about the Blessed Prophet Muhammed being unlettered in the Bible.

And the Book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, read this, and he said, I am not learned.” (Isaiah 29:12)

History will teach us that no one comes close to fulfilling the above prophecy about a person who cannot read other than the Blessed Prophet Muhammed (saw)!

Prophecy about the Arabic language being pure and people worshiping God in one consent.

For then will I turn to the people A PURE LANGUAGE that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him WITH ONE CONSENT. (Literally, shoulder to shoulder). (Zephania 3:9)

We know indeed that they say, “It is a man that teaches him. The tongue of him they wickedly point to is notably foreign, while this is Arabic, PURE AND CLEAR.(Qur’an 16:103)

Verily, this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds; with it came down the spirit of faith and truth to thy heart and mind, that you may admonish in the perspicuous Arabic tongue.(Qur’an 26:192-195)

(IN ONE CONSENT) As in the sayings of Hajj to Mecca, over 3 million people from all nations worshiping the God of Abraham in a PURE LANGUAGE and in ONE CONSENT.

Labbaika Allahumma Labbaik labbaikala shareeka laka labbaik inna alhmda wanniemata laka walmulk lashareeka la,” which is translated,

Here I am at your service oh’ my lord, here I am, here I am. No partner do you have, here I am. Truly the praise and the provisions are yours, and so is the dominion. No partner do you have.”

THE NAME OF THE BLESSED PROPHET MUHAMMED IN THE BIBLE?

I have often seen Muslims try and use the following text to try and assert that the name of the Blessed Messenger is in the Hebrew scriptures.

I will put this here even though I personally find this to be quite an imaginative stretch. However, that imaginative stretch is equal to or on par with Christians who think that this following ‘prophecy‘ was ever fulfilled.

“And this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel(Which means God is with us) – (Matthew 1:23)

To me, Machamadim is closer to Muhammed than Immanuel is to Jesus.  Both attempts are quite the stretch.

Song of Solomon 5:16

His mouth is sweet: yea, he is (altogether lovely). This is my beloved and this is my friend, o’ daughters of Jerusalem.”

Hebrew transliteration of Shir Hashirim (Song of Songs) 5:16

“Chikko mamtaqeem, v’chulo MACHAMADIM, zedowdee v’zere’ee Benot Yarushalaim.”

The IM at the end of Muhammad is like the plural of respect, like in Elohim, which we don’t translate as Gods!

This is likened to the word Immanuel as given in Matthew 1:23, where the name has been given and translated as well.

Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emanuel,” which means “ God is with us.”

However, the name Machamadim in the Hebrew text has not been given but just translated!

Maybe this is an oversight on behalf of our Jewish and Christian brethren??? ???  ???  -MAYBE-

[Correct translation of Shir Hashirim (Song of Songs) 5:16]

His mouth is most sweet, yea he is MUHAMMAD, which means “altogether lovely”, this is my beloved and this is my friend, oh daughters of Jerusalem.”

Abu Musa al Ash`ari reported that Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned many names of his and said, ‘I AM MUHAMMAD, AHMAD. Muqaffi, Hashir, the Prophet of Repentance, and the Prophet of Mercy.” [Muslim, 30:5813]

Anyone who still has doubts about the pronunciation of MACHAMAD has obviously not heard the Turks say ‘Mehmed’ and ‘Mehmet’.

However, as interesting as entertaining this maybe we need to look again at the Qur’an.

Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the unlettered, whom they find mentioned in their own ( Scriptures),-in the Law and the Gospel.” (Qur’an 7:157)

This text does not require Muslims to find the name of the Blessed Prophet Muhammed in some previous scriptures. In fact, it actually calls him ‘the unlettered‘.

Likewise the following text:

And when Jesus, son of Mary, said: O’ children of Israel, surely I am the messenger of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Torah and giving the good news of a Messenger who will come after me, his name being AHMAD. But when he came to them with CLEAR ARGUMENTS, they said: This is clear enchantment.”(Qur’an 61:6)

This verse does not say that the name ‘Ahmad‘ is with them. It says that Jesus proclaimed the coming of Ahmad, or ‘The praised one‘.

Prophecy about the name of the religion of Islam!

And the Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory: and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.” (Isaiah 62:2)

This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor to you and have named Islam as your religion.(Qur’an 5:3)

It is my hope that the above-mentioned material will open hearts and minds to the truth of Islam. Where there is any good in the above material all praise is due to Allah. Where there is any mistake in the above material this is my own doing.

May the God of Abraham, Issac, Jacob,  and the tribes: Allah The Owner of The Throne guide us all to the truth! Ameen!

I leave you with the following quote,

If the Prophet had so wished supposing Islam was the product of his mind, he could also have declared himself the son of God; he could have declared the Arabs a people elect; he could have founded a dispersed and dispersing cult which would have included his own personality, the Archangels some pagan divinities and, possibly, one or more of his wives, along with God; and he would certainly have done so if he had the character still all to readily attributed to him in the west, That he did not do so proves, in any case, two things, namely a character of absolute integrity, and an authentic message from God.

“And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, “Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.” (Qur’an 5:83)

    Jason,

Great post. I got the excitement of seeing a little bit fuzzy video cassette of Ahmed Deedat when I was 12 years old on reading this. Mashallah. 🙂

  2. I really don’t think the context of Isaiah 29:12 allows it to be about Muhammad ﷺ…
