Dear sir- if I may ask, within your branch of the Islamic religion, is it in fact permissible to refer to God as ‘Father’ and the believers as ‘children of God’?

    • “Do we not all have one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?” (Malachi 2:10) In Islam in general we certainly do away with the appellation of ‘Father’ as one may wonder why not address the divine as ‘Mother’.

“But the Jews and the Christians say, “We are the children of Allah and His beloved.” Say, “Then why does He punish you for your sins?” Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.” (Qur’an 5:18)

I see, so building upon this, a Muslim would not be allowed to pray the Pater Noster ?

    • Not withstanding the disputes on the doxology and the longer and shorter versions the various controversy surrounding the text we are Muslims. What Allah (swt) has given us is sufficient.
