Good book on the basics, surprisingly I find myself in agreement and would consider this a better fit. I say surprisingly as I am a revert that has always struggled with some concepts contained within the ahlul Sunnah which is why I have gone back and forth between Salafi and Ashari/maturidi thought especially with the Asma was Sifaat of Allah subhan’Allah wa ta’ala.
It always seemed to me when talking about the names and attributes of Allah contained within the Qur’an it would be more cautious to find them as a literary device rather than a literal explanation which always smacked of anthropomorphism to an ex-catholic like myself.
after reading this short treatise it quickly became clear why Ibadiyya has been suppressed by the powers that be throughout history due to their firm stance and the closing off of excuses for weakness and corruption.
I believe that if western reverts were exposed to Ibadi thought in a truthful way without the sectarian manipulation it would have a great effect upon the community and would break down the divisions that beset our Ummah to the joy of the disbelievers.
