“And do not mix up the truth with the falsehood, nor hide the truth while you know it”. (Qur’an 2:42)
May Allah (swt) guide us. I do not know at what point I became a hyper skeptic of my own faith tradition. Al hamdulillah that Allah (swt) guided me!
I had critiqued the hadith of the Blessed Prophet (saw) saying about Adam being 90 feet tall. This was done because I valued what secular humanist said over what the traditions ascribed to the Blessed Messenger (saw).
I wrote about that here:
I latter felt vindicated that no less than a scholastic giant like Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani also questioned such a hadith.
However, there is a huge difference between my approach and that of Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani.
“The hadith reported by Al-Bukhari that Adam’s height was sixty yards, has been criticized by Ibn Hajar on the basis of the measurement of the homes and dwellings of some of the ancient nations, which do not show that their inhabitants were enormously tall.”

Shaykh Ibn Hajar based his skepticism on empirical data. I based my skepticism on the uncritical blind acceptance of modern science. I made it my authority.
However, as I have realized that modern science also has its own agenda. That is is not without bias, and funding and those who fund certain projects have desired results and agendas I began to take a closer look at some of the claims made by modern science and its various fields.
One of those is Paleontology . When someone who is a zoologist, paleontologist and author of seven books on dinosaurs makes a book on how to make Dinosaurs out of chicken bones it raises an eye brow.
Chris McGowan has created a fascinating “how-to” book that instructs older children and adults how to use the boiled, cleaned and dried bones of supermarket chickens to craft a highly-detailed skeleton of an Apatosaurus — the dinosaur more popularly known as a Brontosaurus.
