This is truly a monumental work and achievement by Shaykh Al-Muatasim Al-Mawali (Religious Studies Supervisor at Sultan Qaboos University). This book, Al-Muatamad (The Reliable Jurisprudence on Prayer) was going for a fee. However, Shaykh Muatasim has given me permission to share the pdf file to this website. Many times people will come and take and not appreciate the efforts that others have done. So I am humbly asking you that if you follow this method in your prayers to ask Allah (swt) to reward Shaykh Muatasim for delivering to us in the English speaking world the method of prayer as instructed by the Blessed Messenger (saw).

Please forgive me. In hindsight I should not have contradicted the explanation of the lgbt prohibition reasoning. I. was trying to explain myself too quickly because I have difficulty communicating. But that doesn’t give me the right to express myself in a way that may be found offensive. I never meant to condone what is considered sinful. May Allah forgive me. I didn’t mean to promote it either. In my foolish impatience, I was trying to cut corners in a complicated issue (reason for the prohibition). Please forgive me.
Bismillah, you gave your view or perspective. Your comment was approved because you did not use foul language and was on point to the topic. I am always open to critique and perhaps different ways of re-wording something that I have posted. Al hamdulillah that you asked for forgiveness. That is from Allah (swt), guidance. So may Allah (swt) forgive you and forgive me. Amin.
Hello,
Can you recommend any site for ibadi school where i can have any of my Questions Answered by ibadi scholars?
Or Can i ask you any Islam related question over email?
Kind regards
Hello,
You can reply this message with your email and I will not publish your comment (to keep ur email private)
From there inshAllah we can reach out to you.
Hello, I am from upstate NY. Are there any Ibadi centers or sources anywhere in the U.S. and/or Canada? I did some Google searches and heard some Ibadis were in Montreal and there was at least in one conference in a Canadian University several years back, but haven’t found anything solid. I am not a Muslim but I love my Muslim peoples and I am someone who loves to study theology and scriptures and have studied the Ibadi school but have never had the chance to actually meet anyone here in New York State. Feel free to e-mail, if desired since I could not find contact info on this page.
Hello, Carlos, I hope this message reaches you in good health.
To my knowledge we do not have any “Ibadi” centre in the United States nor Canada that I am aware of. The key being “that I am aware of” as there could be but I do not know of any.
Likely, they would not label a Masjid or a centre ran by them with a sectarian label.
Insh’Allah if any of the brothers whom practice the school read the comment section here and they are from NY perhaps they could reach out to you.
Likewise if you want to send your e-mail address I would be happy to e-mail you and reach out to you. If you respond with our e-mail via this comment I will not approve the comment (to hide your e-mail and respect your privacy) and you should, Allah-willing receive an e-mail from me.
May Allah (swt) guide you to the truth.
Hello brother in humanity. I am a Christian and have came across many of your wonderful articles related to the crucifixion of Jesus. Since I am not aware of what your particular school (Ibadi) believes in, I would like to know your exact position regarding the teaching of 4:157. Based on something you mentioned in a previous article I read, you seem to believe the Qur’an is NOT referring to the historical crucifixion event that took place in the first century, rather it is simply interacting with claims made by Jews about Jesus. Can you please elaborate?
Also, do you believe there is a way to harmonize the Passion Narratives in the New Testament with 4:157?
Also, since I mainly only read emails, can you could please email me apologeticsforgod@gmail.com?
Hello Marsha. Thank you for your inquiry.
” I would like to know your exact position regarding the teaching of 4:157. Based on something you mentioned in a previous article I read, you seem to believe the Qur’an is NOT referring to the historical crucifixion event that took place in the first century, rather it is simply interacting with claims made by Jews about Jesus. Can you please elaborate?”
1) The Qur’an is indifferent to that which you perceive to be a “historical” reality. There is no text in the Qur’an that interacts with it at all. The Qur’an neither negates it nor affirms it.
“Also, do you believe there is a way to harmonize the Passion Narratives in the New Testament with 4:157.”
No. As in the previous answer. The Qur’an does not interact with it at all.
I would like to know your exact position regarding the teaching of 4:157
That position would be laid out here.
If anything needs clarified to let us know.
When Allah (swt) wants to address barriers that the Jews face when entering into Islam he addresses their concerns. When he addresses barriers by Christians he addresses their concerns.
The heart of the matter between us and the Christians are the very different understandings that we take away from the events surrounding the first human beings. Genesis chapter 3 for you.
If there was no Genesis chapter 3 there would be no Christianity.
So Allah (swt) interacts with this:
“They said, “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Qur’an 7:23)
“Then learned Adam from his Lord words of inspiration, and his Lord turned towards him; for He is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful” (Qur’an 2:35-37)
As you maybe aware there are a myriad differences between Christians as there are between Muslims.
Baptist-Arminian Soteriology
Jesus only Pentecostal.-Sabellian
Pentecostal Trinitarian-Athanasian
Reformed Baptist. -Calvinist Soteriology
Roman Catholic.
Greek Orthodox.
Jehovah’s Witness
Disciples of Christ via Alexander Campbell.
Etc..
Yet, they all share Genesis 3 in common.
When it comes to the Jews there are different concerns. As they do not share the vision the Christians have of Genesis chapter 3.
So in accepting Christ Jesus as Messiah and Prophet, a major point of contention is their claim to have killed Jesus.
I seek your pardon but my e-mail correspondence is hyper focused on those Muslims (from other schools) who wish to follow our school and have questions.
I will get questions from academics or orientalist and I always defer them to Sultan Qaboos university.
The relevant articles I have published thus far are as follows:
As regards to what you believe to be a “historical reality” I find the primary source material the New Testament itself to be wanting in that regards. I have written about it here:
The above articles are sufficient to show our position as Ibadi Muslims that Jesus (as) is dead and he will not return. We do not believe like the bulk of Muslims do on this matter.
I am also (personally) of the view that Jesus (as) was killed as a martyr (shahid) fighting against the Roman imperium. Most likely he was impaled -though this is speculative.
I also wrote two articles that interacted with information from two Muslim academics and their views in regards to Q:4:157
Those are both here:
If you did however have a questions that extend beyond the academic/or clarification on our positions such as a desire to become Muslim you can comment and it will be unpublished and insh’Allah will reach out to you.
You seem like a Christian who is convinced of your positions so I leave you as you were.

السلام عليكم
It’s been awhile since I’ve commented but I finally decided to embrace Islam and the Ibadi school of thought! I was wondering if there are any English, French, or German translations of the primary Ibadi Hadith collections (specifically Tartib Al Musnad)! I would love to be able to access the hadiths to learn from them 🙂
walakum salaam warahmutallahi wabarkatuh!
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar! All praise be to Allah! Whomever Allah guides no one can misguide them. Whomever Allah leaves to stray no one can guide them.
Welcome home! Welcome to the faith of Ibrahim (as).
Insh’Allah if it is fine with you, I can contact you via e-mail. The purpose of this is to put you in touch with good people as support and as a woman you may have questions that are best suited and more appropriate for a woman to answer.
I believe we do have Tarbit Al Musnad in French, though the French speakers tell me it is not a great translations. Currently a brother is working on a really good translation into English, with cross references with other hadith collections from other schools.
Al hamdulillah. Keep your culture, be proud of being Jewish this is what Allah (swt) made you.
Keep strong ties and relations to your family, take things slowly.
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi I want to ask why Ibadhis don’t read dua al Qunut in witr and why they don’t recite second surah in Dhuhr and Asr
Walakum salaam warahmatullah wabaraktuh,
Dear brother Shamsi, why we don’t recite second surah in Dhuhr and Asr is similar to the reason why we do not in all the quiet raka. For example: The third raka of maghrib the third and fourth raka of Isha.
insh’Allah, I have an article on the prayer that explains more on the above I will try and publish and then comment under your comment to notify you.
As regard the Qunut in witr we do not find the evidence for it being sound, or the last action of the Blessed Prophet (saw) on the matter. That too will try and source more information for you.
Please continue to pray for our brothers in Palestine, Sudan, and all those oppressed all over the world.
Bismillah,
Dear brother as promised.
The above link will give some reasons why we do not do Qunut and why we do not do Qur’an readings when Al fatiha is read silently. I hope this helps. May Allah (swt) guide us to what is beloved to him.
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi thank you very much
walakum salaam warahmutallah wabarakuth, You are most welcome.
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi akhi, is it allowed to wipe thick socks in ibadi madhab ?
walakum salam warahmatullah wabarkauth,
Washing both feet is one of the pillars of ablution, due to the explicit verse of ablution in which Almighty Allāh states:
چ..ٺ ٺ ٺٿ چ املائدة: ٦
‘And wash your feet to the ankles’ (Q, the Table Spread. 5:6).
As a result, wiping over them or over shoes is not sufficient after the verse of ablution, in the Chapter of al-Mā’idah (the Table Spread), was revealed. It is well known that the Chapter of
al-Mā’idah is one of the very last revealed chapters of the Holy Qur’ān.
Thus, the obligation to wash the feet is not abrogated and its legal ruling should be applied anyway, whether you are travelling or resident.1
Concerning what has been narrated with
regard to wiping socks or shoes, it is understood that it had been a common practice before the revelation of the verse of alMā’idah.
Therefore, it must have been abrogated by the death
of Prophet Muḥammed (saw). Hence, Ibn ‘Abbās (May Allāh be pleased with him and his father) said: ‘I never saw Allāh’s
Messenger (saw) wiping over his shoes’.
2
However, if we were to admit, for the sake of argument, that all transmitted narrations in this regard are authentic, they still cannot oppose the definitive and explicit Qur’ānic text. This opinion, not wiping over socks, is held by a large number of the Prophet’s (saw) Companions. Hence, ‘Ā’ishah (May Allāh be
pleased with her and her father) said, rejecting such an argument: ‘Cutting off my foot is better than wiping over my two shoes’.
