Sunni-Shi’i sectarian/political point scoring over Palestine.

“O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion – Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah ; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (Qur’an 5:54)

“And thus We set some wrongdoers on some others because of what they used to commit” (Qur’an 6:129)

﷽

Seeing Sunni-Shi’i sectarian /political point scoring over Palestine is actually kind of sick and disturbing.

We wanted to be happy about the Houthis than we realized. Wait a minute. Palestine has been suffering even before Oct 7th.

Why the rocket attacks now?

Do those attacks really benefit Palestine as much as they help Iran? Does it really present some united front for Palestine as much as it helps Iran send a message to the United States?

When will Iran/Turkey send troops to help Palestine? Well, you see there is a conflict going on between Turkey/Azerbaijan on one side and Armenia/Iran are going to need those troops for when it turns into a hot war between the two.

We have Shi’i majority Iran who are allied with Christian majority Armenia and Christian majority Russia against their own brothers, Shi’i Azerbaijan.

Then we have Shi’a Azerbaijan, which directly gives oil to the Zionists.

Every time there is a flare-up against Iran, look at who shows up. Surprise! Hezbollah!

Iran needs that proxy militia for when the real geopolitical conflict comes between Iran/Saudi or Saudi/US/Zionist.

Can’t be spending those soldiers’ lives on the freedom of Palestine now, can we?

Hezbollah really ruined their image by allying with Bashar Al Assad.

To be fair, that whole situation was murky.

You had the al Nusra Front, which claimed to have split from Al-Qaeda. You had ISIS. You had Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-led coalition—formerly Al Nusra Front, and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) and the U.S. backed Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

This does not at all justify the culpability of the Iranian government and Hezbollah for the crimes committed against the Sunni in that nation anymore than it justifies the culpability of Qatar or U.A.E. or Saudi Arabia in any support they gave towards Sunni extremists and the crimes committed towards the Shi’i there.

Let us not forget about Sudan, where we have Saudi Arabia, who supports the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the primary patron and supporter of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

“O believers! Take neither Jews nor Christians as guardians-they are guardians of each other. Whoever does so will be counted as one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. (Qur’an 5:51).

We cannot quote the above ayat when it is convenient to do so against Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain and then forget the ayat the moment Iran sides with Christian Armenia against Shi’i majority Azerbaijan or seeks aid from Christian majority Russia.

If we are honest and consistent, there is probably no Muslim country that has not violated the above ayat in some shape or form.

What can we do?

First and foremost, pray! We make du’a for the Ummah. Especially in Ramadan.

Take every country that has a Muslim majority and target where they can assist and help the oppressed and where they can harm and hurt the oppressors.

We could start with places like the Sunni majority United Arab Emirates, and the Sunni majority Saudi Arabia asking them to not recognize the rogue terrorist state. To mention from the minbar and during the Friday prayers the suffering of our brothers and sisters. We can ask the Shi’i majority Azerbaijan not to supply oil to the Zionists.

Point scoring and sectarian point scoring at this time is no bueno.

Who do we support in the ongoing clashes between the Shi’i in Iraq? (Sadrist -Khomeinist)

After the 2003 US-led invasion, the Sadrist Mahdi Army and Iran-backed militias like the Badr Brigades were ostensibly allied. However, tensions over Iran’s growing influence erupted into open fighting. A key moment was the August 2007 clashes in Karbala, where fighting between the Mahdi Army and Badr Brigades killed 50 Shia pilgrims.

Escalation and Fragmentation: By 2006, factions that were more loyal to Iran than to Sadr, such as Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq (AAH), broke away from the Mahdi Army . These “Special Groups” continued to fight, targeting both US forces and Sadrists, solidifying the split between the nationalist and pro-Iran camps.

Recent Confrontations: The rivalry remains a central feature of Iraqi politics. In August 2022, following Sadr’s electoral success, huge battles broke out in Baghdad between the Sadrists and Iran-backed militias, shutting down the headquarters of AAH and Badr in several areas. Clashes continued into September 2022 in Basra. As recently as April 2023, Iraqi forces had to intervene to prevent all-out fighting between the sides in Baghdad.

Even more recently, with the assassination of Khamenei, the Grand Ayatollah Sistani, himself represented by his office, and the broader religious establishment in Najaf, expressed condolences but did not issue a call for holy war or urge Iraqis to fight for Iran. Their focus remains on the interests of Iraq and preventing their country from becoming a battleground.

What can you do for Palestine?

Continue to do whatever you are doing now.

Do not vote for politicians that have strong pro-Zionist stances. Continue to raise awareness. Continue to boycott products that support the Zionists. Continue to attend protests and pro-awareness demonstrations. By any means that you can send support (that is when they allow it to get through). Continue to write to the heads of state in the Middle East, as a citizen and voice your anger and frustration at what is happening. Put pressure on all Muslim majority countries not to support the Zionist entity with economic trade and/or recognition at all.

Remember Islam is NOT an anti-semetic religion. We do not hate Jewish people.

“O believers! Stand firm for Allah and bear true testimony. Do not let the hatred of a people lead you to injustice. Be just! That is closer to righteousness. And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (Qur’an 5:8)

“And thus We set some wrongdoers on some others because of what they used to commit” (Qur’an 6:129)

This verse can be used against ANYONE in the Middle East involved in doing injustice. Allah (swt) uses some zalim to punish other zalim.

Remember the Shi’i in Iran and throughout the Middle East are extremely vulnerable. They are in a state of major shock.

They lost the Yamani and the Khorasani while waiting for the Sufyani. They are in a state of shock. Many are feeling disillusioned, and so we should have empathy for them.

Likewise, many Sunnis feel very disillusioned with their own leadership. This could be the beginning of something wonderful for the Muslim Ummah.

Don’t get behind countries. As if there are good guys and bad guys. Ask Allah (swt) to support the Muslims wherever they may be. Ask Allah (swt) to support the believers wherever they may be.

“Surely, Allah does not change the condition of a people unless they change themselves. When Allah intends evil for a people, there is no way to turn it back, and for them there is no patron other than Him.” (Qur’an 13:11)

Whenever Allah (swt) opens any ideas or means to support them insh’Allah pursue that avenue as well! Above all else, remember them, remember the Rohingya, the Uigurs, the people of Congo and all oppressed people on this Earth. Remember them in your prayers and especially in Ramadan.

“Beware of a trial that will not only affect the wrongdoers among you. And know that Allah is severe in punishment.” (Qur’an 8:25)

Marxist Ash’aris

“Do not mix truth with falsehood or hide the truth knowingly.” (Qur’an 2:42)

﷽

Why was I not surprised when reading the latest attacks upon those of us in the Muslim ummah who will speak out against injustice.

Now, it seems the Asha’ari have split into different political camps. Those of them who decry injustice and those of them who ally with power. Even if allying with power is to the detriment of their own souls.

In the former United States, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has been fond to call such people Marxist. In traditional circles in the Middle East the pejorative term of choice is Khawarij.

Yet, the people do not sleep. We have a generation of people who are researching and looking into matters. The betrayal of our brothers and sisters in Palestine as caused a great deal of soul searching in the Muslim Ummah. Those who wish to shape the present and the future how honest have they been about the past?

Thus, especially eye opening was Shaykh Ahmed El Azhary’s statement:

“They cherry-pick quotes from history, rip them from their contexts, and apply them recklessly to modern-day situations as if geopolitics were a simple matter of medieval textbooks rulings.”

That is quite the statement coming from someone who proceeds to do the exact same thing. Especially in regards to selective quotes from the past and his own political spin.

So what has happened is that the Ummah has began to research about the Khawarij and they have come to places like primaquran.com and they started to research. They started to see that the picture is not as what has been painted to them. So what do we do when we are told that the Khawarij were blood thirsty savages and yet we come across a group that were quietist and did not want to wet their swords with the blood of the believers?

What we do is we make them the worst of the lot!

So now a people are to be faulted for following the advise of none other than the Blessed Messenger (saw)?

It was narrated that Abu Burdah said:

“I entered upon Muhammed bin Maslamah and he said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: ‘There will be tribulation, division and dissension. When that comes, take your sword to Uhud and strike it until it breaks, then sit in your house until there comes to you the hand of the evildoer (to kill you) or a predestined (natural) death.’” “And that came to pass, and I did as the Messenger of Allah (saw) said.”

Source: (https://sunnah.com/ibnmajah:3962)

At this juncture in history a group of the believers saw that the Ummah was beset by injustice on all fronts. The situation had become murky and mired in corruption.

Yet, what else did the Blessed Messenger (saw) instruct us?

Abu sa’Id al-Khudri said:

I head the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: If any one you sees something objectionable, he should change it with his hand if he can change it with his hand. (The narrator Hammad broke the rest of the tradition which was completed by Ibn al-‘Ala’.) But if he cannot (do so), he should do it with his tongue, and if he cannot (do so with) his tongue he should do it in his heart, that being the weakest form of faith.

Source: (https://sunnah.com/abudawud:4340)

So remember,

According to Shaykh Ahmed El Azhary we cannot even give vocal support to the oppressed, or we are Marxist and Khawarij!

Indeed many of those whom Shaykh Ahmed El Azhary call as ‘armchair’ warriors would be warriors on the battlefield. Yet, the very governments that people like Shaykh Ahmed El Azhary defend prevent the people from fighting in the cause of Allah!

“And what is it with you? You do not fight in the cause of Allah and for oppressed men, women, and children who cry out, “Our Lord! Deliver us from this land of oppressors! Appoint for us a saviour; appoint for us a helper—all by Your grace.”  (Qur’an 4:75)

” But those ˹believers˺ who were certain they would meet Allah reasoned, “How many times has a small force vanquished a mighty army by the Will of Allah! And Allah is ˹always˺ with the steadfast.” (Qur’an 2:249)

No, rather people like Shaykh Ahmed El Azhary he would take the hadith of the munkar and if they had their way not only would you not change evil with your hands or your tongue but if they could silence your conscience they would do so. “He should do it in his heart, that being the weakest form of faith.” If they could even remove from your heart the pain and anger and sorrow you feel towards the suffering of the Ummah they would! If that is the weakest form of faith and it is removed what would we have left?

May Allah (swt) guide the Ummah.

May Allah (swt) forgive the Ummah.

Turkey is home to the 3rd largest Shi’a population in the Middle East.

“My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” (Qur’an 20:114)

﷽

Most people, when they think of Turkey, do not think of it as a bastion of Shi’ism.

What makes obtaining numbers difficult in the case of Turkey is that they conduct census based only on religion, not on sects, races or ethnicity because according to the law, only religions are recognized, not sects. Additionally, another law states that everyone living in Turkey is considered a Turk.

Did you know that the Alevi Shi’a community is estimated to be between as low as 4 million and as high as 20 million of Turkey’s 80 million citizens?!

In fact, did you know that the bulwark of the Ottoman Military Machine, the famed Janissaries, were not Sunni Muslims?!

They cursed Muaviya, and they believed in the 14 infallibles, The Blessed Prophet (saw), Fatima (ra) and the 12 imams! They held that Ali was superior to the other companions. They were Shi’i; however not in the traditional sense. They were part of a Sufi order that was strongly influenced by Shi’i ideas and beliefs.

Bekta-Shism: A Sufi order that originated in Anatolia in the 13th century and named after their Saint: Haji Bektsah Veli.

Yeniçeriler gelsin!

Once that Shofar horn is blown, the only thing that awaits the opponent is swift and merciless death.

We don’t know if it was genius or mischievous of the Ottomans to send people who had heterodox views to be shock troops knowing they would take the brunt of the causalities. In a sense: canon fodder.

It must have been terrifying for Christian armies to see legions of soldiers basically dressed like Orthodox Christian Bishops coming to kill them! Just an unstoppable juggernaut chanting Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah has they charge forth.

Genius or diabolical would be a matter of perspective here.

Psychology is just as much a part of war as the weapons we wield!

The Daily Sabah says:

“Alevis, who make up the second-largest religious community in the country with approximately 20 million followers.”

Source: https://www.dailysabah.com/politics/news-analysis/govt-signals-action-for-turkeys-alevi-community-amid-obstacles

“The number of Alevis is a matter of contention. Estimates from different sources range considerably – from around 10 percent to as much as 40 percent of the total population – but recent figures suggest Alevis number in the region of 20 to 25 million.”

Source: https://minorityrights.org/communities/alevis/#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20Alevis%20is,of%2020%20to%2025%20million.

Not surprising is that Sunni Muslims opposed to Shi’ism altogether would opt for polls or data that suggest that their population is not divided.

Recently, on X (Twitter), one Turkish Muslim we engaged with on the subject favoured KONDA Research, which suggests a very low 4% of the Turkish population to be Alevi Shi’a.

“Leaders of the Alevi Foundation estimate Alevi Muslims comprise 25 to 31 percent of the population. KONDA Research and Consultancy estimates the Alevi community at approximately 6 percent of the population, almost 5 million individuals. The Shia Jafari community estimates its members make up 4 percent of the population.”

Source: https://www.state.gov/reports/2021-report-on-international-religious-freedom/turkey/

Curious as to why that individual quoted KONDA research, we asked the individual what he thought about Tarhan Erdem’s view that Turkey was responsible for the genocide of Armenians, of which he offered no engagement on the question.

Turkey is allies with Shi’a Azerbaijan against Christian Armenia and Shi’a Iran.

Why many Turks unfortunately feel sour about Palestine and Palestinians.

Why do many Turks unfortunately feel sour about Palestine and Palestinians?

We have had many religiously observant Turkish Muslim friends express to us that they felt betrayed by Palestine.

One Turkish brother shared with us a picture from X (Twitter) that says: “I stand with Armenia forever. From Palestine.

To which he replied: “This is what makes me angry. My people and my nation support them. Going against Israel and having economic problems. And these shameless people support our enemies! Brother, there are Turks who support Israel, but those Turks are not Muslims. But these Palestinians claim to be Muslim and oppressed but still support Armenia and China. I have not seen a single Palestinian or Pan-Arab or supports other Muslims. Those oppressed in Myanmar, China or elsewhere.”

A Palestinian had said in response to such sentiment:

“I’m sorry for the Turks. We need to kiss their feet because we lived with Armenians in our neighborhoods when we were kids. And they were good people. I’m so sorry, Brother Turk, you have every right to feel sour and not care about us being subject to genocide. Empires rise and fall. The Turks betrayed the Ottoman Empire way before any Arab did.”

As you can see, our brothers from Turkey and Palestine equally have valid points. My point to the Turkish brother is that the Palestinians as a whole should not be made to suffer because of the statements or actions of Mahmoud Abbas or those in the past.

This unfortunately is the sad state of our Muslim Ummah.

If we had a word of caution for my brothers in Turkey it would be this.

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”

This seemingly innocuous Bekta-Shism state being carved out of Albania (with EU approval) might not be as innocent as one thinks.

Be careful of Zionist interpretations of Qur’an 17:7

(We told you), “If you do good, it will be for your own benefit, but if you do bad, it will be against your souls. When the prophecy of your second transgression will come to pass, sadness will cover your faces. They (your enemies) will enter the mosque as they did the first time to bring about utter destruction. (Qur’an 17:7)

﷽

Recently I was watching a video circulating the internet over our brother, a former IDF soldier who found the light of Islam. Al hamdulillah! May Allah (swt) increase him in faith and bring him to a state of felicity. May many more of them be guided to the light of Islam.

The brother who was interacting with the former IDF soldier was doing an excellent effort in flashing the verses on the screen. However, something jolted me when the brother quoted Qur’an 17:7 and gave a very strange understanding of this verse. It raised the alarm and this is why I felt the urgency to write this post in hopes that you will also warn those you know!

I have personally not come across people understand the verse this way. unless they were from the United Arab Emirates, or Saudi Arabia.

The verse in question is:

(We told you), “If you do good, it will be for your own benefit, but if you do bad, it will be against your souls. When the prophecy of your second transgression will come to pass, sadness will cover your faces. They (your enemies) will enter the place of prostration (Masjid)as they did the first time to bring about utter destruction.” (Qur’an 17:7)

Please pay special attention to how the Arabic word ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ is being translated into English.

Here is a complete list of known translations into English:

https://www.islamawakened.com/quran/17/7/

Notice the word ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ has been translated as Temple in 32 translations. Why is this even important brothers and sisters?

This is the video I am referencing:

@22:50 minutes into the video The Muslim Lantern states: “In fact Allah azwajala said that the people children of Israel will take the Masjid,Masjid Al Aqsa from you.”

This is dead wrong. There is no such verse in the Qur’an at all. Surely brother Muslim Lantern will have his reward with Allah (swt). However, I think in this regard he is simply transmitting what he heard without investigating the verse.

Let us look at the context:

“And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance.!” (Qur’an 17:4)

Allah (swt) is addressing the Children of Israel (Jacob).

“When the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants given to terrible warfare: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning (completely) fulfilled.” (Qur’an 17:5)

Allah (swt) is mentioning that he sent against you (Meaning children of Israel) -They are the ones being attacked not the attackers!

Then did We grant you the Return as against them: We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power.” (Qur’an 17:6)

Allah (swt) grant you (Children of Israel) a return against them (the attackers of the Children of Israel)

Allah (swt) is not saying that the children of Israel will be the one’s who will enter the places of prostration and bring utter destruction. It makes no sense! It makes no sense because the place that the destruction will come to is the place that the children of Israel themselves worship!

That is the temple of Solomon (as). Look at the text that are underlined in green. That is what people are getting confused. The Children of Israel will cause corruption in the earth twice and they will be punished by having their place of worship destroyed!

Allah (swt) will use someone else as a means of punishment for the disobedient Children of Israel.

They (your enemies) will enter the place of prostration (Masjid)as they did THE FIRST TIME to bring about utter destruction.”

The first time was the destruction of the place of prostration-by Nebuchadnezzar.

The second time that Allah (swt) is speaking about in the future in Qur’an 17:7 was by the Romans.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT AND WHAT HAS THIS HAVE TO DO WITH PALESTINE AND AL AQSA MASJID?

This is important because the false interpretation that was given to our brother The Muslim Lantern and not only him but to many Muslims will be used as a psychological weapon against the Palestinian and Muslim resistance when the Zionist eventually come to attack it!

How will it be used a psychological weapon? Because, the false interpretation makes it that the Zionist (Israel) will conqueror Masjid Al Aqsa.

@22:50 minutes into the video The Muslim Lantern states: “In fact Allah azwajala said that the people children of Israel will take the Masjid,Masjid Al Aqsa from you.”

How will you defend a place knowing that Allah (swt) himself said that your enemies would take it from you? Do you see the point brothers and sisters?

In fact, watch the expression of our new brother in Islam (former IDF) when our brother Muslim Lantern says this. The new brother looked quite surprised? Why? Because he knows how the resistance is fighting, even after being almost entirely abandoned by the whole Muslim Ummah. He looks surprised because he can’t imagine the IDF just taking Al Aqsa Masjid. Jordan is the custodian of Al Aqsa Masjid. Jordan would be forced to go beyond just sending ‘a memo of protest‘ if the Zionist wanted to full on take the Masjid.

Rather or not the Zionist attempt to do so is another matter. The point of this post is do not read these verses of the Qur’an incorrectly. Especially do not read them in such away that would give a moral boost to the enemies of the faith!

May Allah (swt) guide our new brother in faith.

May Allah (swt) forgive the Ummah!

May Allah (swt) guide the Ummah!

Do Salafiyya truly believe that Allah chuckles and laughs at the despair of the Palestinians?

Say, “My Lord has only forbidden immoralities – what is apparent of them and what is concealed – and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know.” (Qur’an 7:33)

ALLAH LAUGHS AT THE DESPAIR OF HIS SLAVES?

Waki’ bin Hudus narrated that his paternal uncle Abu Razin said:

“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Allah laughs at the despair of His slaves although He soon changes it.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, does the Lord laugh?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘We shall never be deprived of good by a Lord Who laughs.'”

Source: (https://sunnah.com/ibnmajah:181)

“The Messenger of Allah said: Allah chuckles at the despair of His slaves although He soon changes it.’
I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, does the Lord chuckle?’ ‘He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘We shall never be deprived of good by a Lord Who chuckles.”

Now if we take this hadith alone it is challenging to suggest that chuckling/laughing can be interpreted as Mercy. Because, even the companion ask, ‘Does Allah chuckle?’ and it would be difficult to imagine the companion asking, ‘Does the Lord show Mercy’. I mean we recite the Qur’an as bismillah ir rahman ir raheem. Most Merciful and Most Compassionate.

However, this is a lone narrator report. We in Ahl Haqq Wal Istiqamah (The Ibadi School) we do not make lone narrator reports as a basis for our faith. What we do is look at other ahadith where these idioms are used to show if there is other meanings.

If we are to take this lone narrator report at the apparent meaning as the Salafi -Athari suggest than it means that Allah (swt) is laughing, chuckling etc at the despair and pain that humanity undergoes.

It takes a depraved human being and a twisted imagination to suggest that Allah (swt) would have a hearty chuckle at the despair and misery of humanity.

Children being sexually abused by their parents.

People starting to death in this world.

You going to say that Allah (swt) is laughing/chuckling at this?!

Furthermore does this laughing and chuckling produce a sound such that we can say that it is uncreated? Such that one can imagine an eternal chuckling and laughing at the despair, torture and pain of a creation that has yet to be created?

We wonder why people are Atheist?

Either the people who invent such falsehoods have a very low estimation of the Divine, or the Creator they worship is more horribly morbid than the darkest corner of human imagination could fathom.

However, because this hadith is graded as ‘Hasan’ those who take the lone narrator reports will insist,

We believe that Allah chuckles/laughs …with the disclaimer (in a way that befits his majesty!

“It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:  Allah chuckles at the two men both of whom will enter Paradise (though) one of them kills the other. They said: Messenger of Allah, how is it? He said: One of them fights in the way of Allah, the Almighty, and Exalted. and dies a martyr. Then Allah turns in mercy to the murderer who embraces Islam, fights in the way of Allah, the Almighty, and Exalted, and dies a martyr.”  (‘Sahih’ Muslim Kitab Al-Imara hadith number 4658)

Source: (https://sunnah.com/muslim:1890a)

If we understand the mention about Allah (swt) chuckling as his act of Mercy than this is not a problem. It is an idiom or an expression.

However, if as some in the Muslim community do (ever ready to kick every one else out of Islam), insist that we have to take this at the apparent meaning it is very dark.

These kinds of hadiths are reminiscent of the stuff attributed to Allah (swt) in the Bible.

“And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.” (Exodus 32:14)

“The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.” (Genesis 6:6)

So we would take the two hadith and combine them and our understanding would be the laughing/chuckling as an idiom or expression of Allah’s mercy that is soon to follow any act of despair, as long as the people put their tawakkul (trust) in Allah (swt).

“Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Qur’an 39:53)

May Allah (swt) Forgive the Ummah.

May Allah (swt) Guide the Ummah.
