What has your God done for you?

“If all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean were ink, refilled by seven other oceans, the Words of Allah would not be exhausted.” (Qur’an 31:27)

 ﷽

Once, our colleague had an encounter with a Christian missionary. This is the encounter that took place.

Once, while in the Sultan Mosque in Singapore, a Christian missionary paid us a visit. The man came up to me and, after introducing himself, he asked, ‘What has your God done for you?’

To which my immediate reply to him was, “You see, my brother, that is the wrong question. The question is not ‘What has God done for me’, the question is ‘What has God not done for me?’

My life, my faith, the air we breathe, the ability to see and behold objects of great beauty, to hear the most softness and soothing of sounds, to taste the most delicious of foods, to be healthy, to have been in love, to have been the object of someone’s love. To have parents that loved me and raised me. This beautiful world that we live in. The fact that if we were so much closer to the sun that we would all burn alive and if we were that much further away, this earth would freeze over. This beautiful day, gravity, the opportunity to meet you and share with you some of what God has done for us.”

I then quoted to him the following verse from the Qur’an.

“And if whatever trees in the earth were pens, and the sea and seven more seas even after it were to replenish it, yet in no way would the Words of Allah be depleted. Surely Allah is Ever-Mighty, Ever-Wise” (Qur’an 31:27)

If I was to spend my entire life writing words of thanks and praise to Allah (swt) for everything he has done for us, I would need seven more lifetimes, and even then I would fall short of writing words of praise and gratitude.

Subhanallahi Wa Bihamdihi, Subhanallahil Azeem!!!

    Sublime article!

What the majority of people fail to see in Christianity is that it is basically an epistemological deadend.

Let’s say someone got convinced by the claims made by Christians. There are 3 routes for that person:

    —————————————————————–

    (1) He might join the Roman Catholic Church thinking it represents true Christianity. What is the epistemology of the roman Church? Of course the Pope and the Ecumenical Councils!

Now many Catholics have a big problem with the second Vatican Council which seems to contradict many of the previous papal teachings. Also the modern Popes are contradicting traditional Catholic teachings left and right.

Now either “God the Trinity” changed their mind through the Popes or Catholicism is just false (the latter being the case if one examines the whole picture).

    ——————————————————————-

    (2) He might join the Eastern Orthodox Church thinking it represents true Christianity. What is the epistemology of the eastern Church? Of course the 8 ecumenical Councils, the Church Fathers and the consenscus of the Churches!

Now when is a council binding on the Orthodox? When the Pentarchy (all 5 Patriarchs) are present and if the proposed creeds are orthodox (sound).

Now you got a problem with that. What about the first council of Constantinople where the Roman Patriarch was not even present? What about the council of Florence which was attended by all the 5 Patriarchs but is still rejected by the Orthodox?

How does one base the orthodoxy of a council? And who get’s to decide the orthodoxy of a council? Every Church (like Nestorians or Miaphysites) that rejected an ecumenical council did so because they thought this council was not theologicaly sound not because they were mere “rebels”. Nicaea 1 was (to my knowledge) rejected by a big chunk of Christians.

Also who get’s to make up the rules of a valid ecumenical council? Catholics try to prooftext Matthew 16:18 for their doctrine but Orthodox cannot show even a verse from the New Testament to bolster their criterion. So the epistemology of Orthodoxy is just to have “blind faith in your Church”.

        ——————————————————————-

        (2) He might join one of thousands of protestant Churches thinking it represents true Christianity. What is the epistemology of the Protestants? Of course the Bible alone!

Now then why do all protestant denomination differ in their interpretation of their Bible if a person is “guided by the Holy Spirit” by reading it? Is keeping any moral precept necessary or is it a violation of grace? Are some aspects of the mosaic law or invalid? What is the exact nature of baptism? Is the Trinity biblical or unbiblical?

Most importantly why are those books in the Bible the right ones? The canon had been settled by the Catho-orthodox Church who were a false Church according to protestants. Why not take in the book of Enoch since something of it was quoted by Jude?

        ———————————————————————

        And Allah (swt) knows best.

        • Yes, and if someone says ” I am just a Christian” we can establish that as fallacious by asking them “Which canon do you accept?”

That shows the statement to be a myth.

Similar to someone who says, “I’m just a Muslim” insh’Allah, this is what Allah (swt) has called us and may you and I and all of the believers die as Muslims. Amin.

Yet, when ask the person how do you pray (assuming they pray at all), then we get into the type or kind of Muslim they actually are.
